National HIV Testing Day

More than 3% of the DC population is infected with HIV or AIDS, the Washington Post reports.  In an effort to raise awareness, the National Association of People With Aids is offering free HIV and AIDS testing at sites across the nation.  This annual event is recognized as the National HIV Testing Day, coined in 1995.  This years message to the community, is to Take the Test and Take Control.

To kick off the event, DC Mayor Vincent C. Gray will take an HIV test at one of the District’s most comprehensive medical clinics, Bread for the City's newly renovated primary care center at 1525 7th Street NW.  Bread for the City provides free and comprehensive services to low-income DC residents, including food, clothing, medical care, legal assistance and much more.

DC Mayor Gray and community leaders are encouraging everyone to do their part to fight the spread of HIV and AIDS.  By getting tested and educating yourself and others.  To find a FREE, anonymous testing clinic near you, click here.  Share this information with your family and friends.  Take the Test and Take Control.
